Statement

Ciali believes that art is a language, it should speak to the viewer, and the viewer in turn responds. It needs to communicate by evoking memories and feelings, emotions and understanding. The art he creates is much like cooking, you have a variety of ingredients all with their own specific taste or degree of sweetness, hotness, sourness, but when they are blended together they become something else, they become a new flavor, a new experience. In the monotypes and paintings he takes bits and pieces and combines them in such a way that they become something else, a different experience a new flavor a new language. Each artist speaks in his or her own language and the challenge is to be understood. He believes that the work is as much about asking the questions as giving the answers.
